The people living at Skeiðvellir

The name of our new icelandic horse breeding farm is Skeiðvellir. We started to buid around newyear 2006-2007 and moved inti the first livinghouse in the end of September.On the farm is a big and good ridinghall 20 x 60 m, a new stable with 38 boxes and 4 livinghouses. Skeiðvellir is in the south in Rangárþing ytra , 15 km from Hella. On the place where we built up the farm it was a horserace track many years ago and the name Skeiðvellir (racetrack) is from an old map with names of the area. The farm is around 350 ha with a lot of grass.
We now have 10 first prize mares in our breeding and some other high scored 2nd prize mares. The mares are nearly without exception going to 1st prize stallions. The people living at the farm are Sigurður and Lisbeth Sæmundsson, Katrín Sigurðardóttir and Davíð Jónsson and their children Sigurður Smári and Guðlaug Birta, Elín Hrönn and Hjörtur Ingi and their daughter Lisbeth Viðja and so is the brother of Siggi, Viðar Sæmundsson also living here.
The oldest daughter Petra is living in Sweden with her daughters Amand and Louise.
Sigurður (Siggi) has been the teamleader of the icelandic equestrian team in 12 worldchampionships,and a rider in four championships. Through the years the team has brought many goldmedala home to Iceland. The summer 2007 the team won 11 goldmedals.
The 1th of September 2011 Katrín and Davíð took over the business of the stable and they are taking horses for training and for sale.
They also have many different events for travellers from abroad and Iceland, like clinics, sale events, equestrian shop etc.
Hjörtur is training horses in a farm here nearby and Elín is working at the kindergarten in Laugaland.
Me (Lisbeth) and Siggi are still in the breeding and bringing up the youngsters and we have some boxes for us in the stable.
